How I Review
I evaluate each of the books I read on a bunch of factors, including the following:
-
World Building
-
Characters
-
Plot
-
Relationships
-
Prose & Pacing
-
Spoiler Section (not rated)
-
Overall
While not every book I read includes every section, I do try to mention it briefly somewhere in my review, whether in the introduction or in the concluding overview.
Blog Reviews
My reviews under my blog and can be easily found under the Review Category. However, you may notice that most of them have a **SPOILERS REDACTED** tag on them. This is because of how I format them. If you are interested in reading the spoilers, you can find all of my reviews can be found on Goodreads, including reviews not posted to my blog.
Rating System
⭐ Hated it; Wish I could rate it lower
⭐⭐ Didn't like it
⭐⭐⭐ It was okay; Meh; Liked it
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Liked it; Really liked it
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really liked it; Loved it!
Please note the following:
-
I do half star ratings! I round based on whatever full star the book is closer to.
-
I usually don't rate a book lower than 3 stars, unless I really didn't like or just flat out hated it.
Romance vs. Spice
I believe that a romance rating and a spice rating of a book are not the same. A romance rating is used to describe how swoony or intense the romance in a book is, whereas a spice rating describes how sexually explicit the book is. For instance, you can absolutely have a high swoon romance without any spice; similarly, you can absolutely have a spicy book that lacks in romance (think more lust than love).
Whatever you choose to read is fine, but for some people, these ratings can serve as a guage for how much romance or spice they want from a book.
